Motorola looks to be preparing an Android Froyo-powered handset for prepaid carrier and Sprint subsidiary Virgin Mobile USA. Although the phone resembles several of Moto's current offerings, including the Droid X, Droid 2, and Atrix, it seems to be a brand new piece of hardware. Most notable here is the fact that unlike the majority of Motorola's Android devices, this one seems to lack the Blur UI, which has come to meet with very mixed reactions. Also interesting is the fact that three columns of icons are visible on the homescreen of the likely-WVGA display, something that seems impossible on the four-column grid of stock Froyo.
The nameless model would be the third Android phone on Virgin, along with the Samsung Intercept and recently-released Optimus V from LG -- another Optimus One variant. Virgin serves a reported six million subscribers in the US as an MVNO, utilizing parent Sprint's CDMA and EV-DO networks.
